Do you know about motorcycle clubs in motorcycle culture?

As soon as motorcycles became widely available in the early 20th century, people began to modify, race, and ride them for fun. As motorcycles developed, so did the culture that went with them. In 1924, the American Motorcyclist Association was founded. Motorcycle culture began to develop and become part of the life of the community. After World War II, veterans often formed motorcycle clubs to help them build social circles and readjust to civilian life. After several hit counterculture movies centered around motorcycles, the image of bikers as rebellious outlaws began to be etched into the public consciousness.

Motorcycle Clubs

The motorcycle club (MC) is one of the most important organizations in motorcycle culture. A true MC is more than just a riding buddy. It is a carefully selected family, and joining or leaving this family is a life-changing decision. The American Motorcycle Association is perhaps the most well-known of these. It fights for the rights of riders around the world and has more than 200,000 members.

There are also riding clubs, the more casual cousin of MCs. These clubs are social organizations designed for people who like to ride together, chat on motorcycle communication systems during rides, and hang out in garages. Those who don’t like the commitment of an MC can make great new friends by joining a riding club.

Of course, there is a dark side to motorcycle clubs – the notorious outlaw motorcycle gangs. But any biker will be quick to remind you that 99% of bikers are law-abiding people who just want to enjoy riding with their friends and family, whether they are family or the chosen ones. Even the so-called “one percent” or “outlaw” clubs are not necessarily criminal organizations. They just aren’t sanctioned by the AMA and don’t have to follow its rules. Rallies like Sturgis are an important part of motorcycle culture for many riders.
